Valentine's Day
So every year we celebrate Valentine's Day with our friends Ted & Andrea. For the past few years, we've taken turns, guys vs. girls, surprising the others with the plans for the weekend. The guys started it with their downtown scavenger hunt in 2005. In 2006, we girls kicked it up a notch, booking a bed & breakfast for an overnight stay. This year was the guys' turn again, and they were talking big beforehand. We were very excited to see what they had actually come up with.
We were told to pack for overnight, dress up for the evening, and bring snow boots. We started out with dinner at Venue, our new favorite restaurant! We took our SUV, because the guys had told us that Ted's van was stuck in the shop, and this was a big deal because it was important to the success of the outing. After dinner we walked outside the restaurant, and there was a limo and driver! We had the limo for 3 hours, and we made a few stops. We went to Airpark, up a hill from which we could see all the lights of Lincoln. This was where Ted had proposed to Andrea, and we stood there in the snow and 50 mph winds while he told us the story (cheesy!) and gave her a necklace and earrings. Then we picked up another couple of friends of ours who rode around in the limo with us, drinking champagne and wine. After we dropped them back off, we ended up at a bed & breakfast. Jamie's and my room was decorated with mostly chocolate, plus a stuffed monkey (long story) and two stuffed roses. He had also painted a ceramic goblet at Paint Yourself Silly and filled it with candy. And underneath the candy - a necklace and earring set I had wanted! Breakfast the next morning was fabulous, and the kids were happy to see us when we got home! (we left them with a babysitter, not by themselves!!!)
We had a great time, and we girls are already planning next year's surprise!!
